General Information

Rome is the capital city and most populated comune (municipality) of Italy. It is also the administrative centre of the Lazio region and of the Metropolitan City of Rome. A special comune named Roma Capitale with a population of 2.7 million in an area of 1,287.36 km2 (497.1 mi2), Rome is the third most populous city in the European Union by population within city limits. The Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, with a population of 4.2 million, is the most populous metropolitan city in Italy. Its metropolitan area is the third-most populous within Italy. Rome is located in the central-western portion of the Italian Peninsula, within Lazio (Latium), along the shores of the Tiber Valley. Vatican City is an independent country inside the city boundaries of Rome, the only existing example of a country within a city. Rome is often referred to as the "City of Seven Hills" due to its geography, and also as the "Eternal City". Rome is generally considered to be one of the cradles of Western civilization and Western Christian culture, and the centre of the Catholic Church.

Così i compagni di scuola hanno “sventato” il piano del 14enne che voleva accoltellare la professoressa a Lamezia Terme
Non hanno fatto finta di non vedere. Hanno notato qualcosa di strano, ne hanno parlato con un adulto e quella segnalazione ha permesso di far scattare l’intervento dei carabinieri. Sono stati alcuni compagni di scuola a contribuire a sventare il piano di un 14enne che, all’interno dell’Istituto comprensivo “Nicotera-Costabile” di Lamezia Terme, aveva progettato di aggredire con un coltello la propria docente di italiano. A confermare il ruolo decisivo degli studenti è la dirigente scolastica Maria Angela Bilotti. “Il sistema generale ha funzionato. Quello che ha funzionato è stata la rete, soprattutto dei compagni”, ha spiegato. I ragazzi, ha raccontato, “hanno visto questa situazione strana e hanno subito riferito ad un adulto” facendo così scattare l’intervento. Un elemento che la dirigente sottolinea con particolare forza è proprio l’assenza di omertà tra gli studenti. “Tutto è stato sventato dai carabinieri grazie alla segnalazione di un compagno”, ha detto Bilotti, sottolineando che i ragazzi “non sono stati omertosi”. La dirigente ha parlato di un caso isolato e ha spiegato che, secondo quanto emerso finora, alla base del gesto ci sarebbe il risentimento del ragazzo nei confronti della docente per una bocciatura avvenuta lo scorso anno. “Mi viene dato di capire che il motivo era questo”, ha affermato, aggiungendo però che si tratta di “un ragazzo che va aiutato”. La gravità di quanto accaduto, ha precisato, resta evidente, ma “sicuramente è un ragazzo che non va lasciato a se stesso“. Secondo Bilotti, inoltre, non erano emerse in precedenza particolari avvisaglie. Il 14enne, ha spiegato, “non è un ragazzo problematico e non c’erano state mai avvisaglie che potesse pensare a una cosa del genere”. La notizia ha inevitabilmente suscitato preoccupazione tra studenti e famiglie. La dirigente ha raccontato che, nelle prime ore, soltanto lei e l’insegnante erano state informate, mentre gli investigatori avevano chiesto la massima riservatezza. Ora che la vicenda è diventata pubblica, “sono tutti molto preoccupati, anche i genitori”. Bilotti ha però voluto rassicurare le famiglie: “Mai è successo questo. È il nono anno che mi dedico a questa scuola e non è mai successa una situazione del genere”. La scuola si prepara adesso ad affrontare le conseguenze dell’accaduto anche sul piano educativo e psicologico. “Già stiamo pianificando l’intervento”, ha detto la dirigente, annunciando il possibile coinvolgimento di psicologi e delle forze dell’ordine per organizzare incontri specifici. L’obiettivo sarà parlare con gli studenti non soltanto della classe frequentata dal 14enne, ma con tutti i ragazzi dell’istituto. Anche il Comune ha messo a disposizione i propri servizi. L’assessore al Welfare Domenico Gianturco ha assicurato che saranno coinvolti servizi sociali, educatori e psicologi per organizzare con la scuola momenti di riflessione e accompagnamento. “L’impegno è quello di non lasciare soli né l’istituzione scolastica, né le famiglie, né soprattutto i minori”, ha detto. Il percorso, ha spiegato l’assessore, dovrà avere un carattere interistituzionale e potrà coinvolgere scuola, Comune, Asp, forze dell’ordine e, se necessario, anche la polizia postale, “considerando che dinamiche di questo tipo spesso trovano spazio sul web”. Partendo dall’istituto coinvolto, l’amministrazione intende inoltre valutare percorsi rivolti più in generale ai minori della città e alle loro famiglie. Sulla vicenda è intervenuto anche il vescovo di Lamezia Terme, monsignor Serafino Parisi, che ha parlato di “sgomento” per il piano e di “sollievo” per il fatto che non si sia concretizzato. Ma ha indicato soprattutto nella reazione degli studenti “il lumicino di speranza” della vicenda: la loro “sensibilità” ha fatto sì che “invece di guardare dall’altra parte facendo finta di non vedere” arrivasse una segnalazione. Per Parisi, l’episodio deve spingere a interrogarsi sulle fragilità dei ragazzi e sul modello di umanità proposto dalla società. “Uno stop viene preso come un ostacolo che deve essere aggirato o eliminato”, ha osservato, invitando le istituzioni a concentrarsi proprio su questo terreno. Presidio davanti all’ambasciata tunisina a Roma per la liberazione dei quattro attivisti della Global Sumud Flotilla detenuti dal marzo scorso a Tunisi. Sono in attesa della decisione d’appello sul prolungamento della loro detenzione, disposto due settimane fa per altri quattro mesi. Da oltre un mese sono in sciopero della fame, le loro condizioni si stanno aggravando. Wael Naouar, il più noto, già leader degli studenti tunisini durante la dittatura, ha perso 25 chili ed è stato trasferito in ospedale, ma stanno male anche gli altri. Sono Ghassan Boughediri, Nabil Chennoufi e Ghassan Henchiri. “Per la prima volta temo che possa morire”, ha detto Hichem Naouar, padre di Wael, dopo l’ultima visita al figlio nel carcere di Mornaguia. Davanti all’ambasciata di via Asmara a Roma c’erano attivisti romani della Flotilla e giovani tunisini, molto preoccupati per quanto accade nel loro Paese. “Sono prigionieri politici, arrestati in quanto leader della delegazione tunisina e maghrebina della Global Sumud Flotilla e sono sciopero della fame, in condizioni critiche – ha detto Luca Poggi di Global Sumud Italia – È in atto una stretta globale contro l’attivismo per la Palestina”. Altri presidi si sono svolti davanti ai consolati tunisini di Milano e di altre città, come in vari Paesi europei. La legge tunisina consente in teoria la detenzione preventiva fino a 14 mesi senza formalizzazione delle accuse, fin qui molto fumose e relative alla gestione di fondi raccolti per Gaza e per la Flotilla, che nel settembre 2025 partì anche da Tunisi con migliaia di persone a salutare le imbarcazioni. Nei giorni scorsi invece la polizia ha arrestato o fermato una ventina di persone che manifestavano nella capitale tunisina per la liberazione dei quattro. Il governo di Kais Saied sembra deciso a chiudere i conti con il movimento di solidarietà per i palestinesi, che è molto radicato nel Paese e fino a sei mesi fa aveva avuto piena agibilità. Poi, il 5 marzo scorso, la polizia ha impedito una manifestazione alla quale partecipavano anche Thiago Avila e Greta Thunberg e altri attivisti da tutto il mondo. E nei giorni seguenti ha arrestato Naouar e altre sei persone, tre delle quali sono state poi rilasciate. Gli altri sono ancora in carcere, tra le proteste delle organizzazioni per i diritti umani.
