General Information

Rome is the capital city and most populated comune (municipality) of Italy. It is also the administrative centre of the Lazio region and of the Metropolitan City of Rome. A special comune named Roma Capitale with a population of 2.7 million in an area of 1,287.36 km2 (497.1 mi2), Rome is the third most populous city in the European Union by population within city limits. The Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, with a population of 4.2 million, is the most populous metropolitan city in Italy. Its metropolitan area is the third-most populous within Italy. Rome is located in the central-western portion of the Italian Peninsula, within Lazio (Latium), along the shores of the Tiber Valley. Vatican City is an independent country inside the city boundaries of Rome, the only existing example of a country within a city. Rome is often referred to as the "City of Seven Hills" due to its geography, and also as the "Eternal City". Rome is generally considered to be one of the cradles of Western civilization and Western Christian culture, and the centre of the Catholic Church.

La Francia è passata con un capolavoro su punizione di Olise al 55’. Bastoni, con un inserimento perfetto per anticipare Da Cunha, al 68’ ha trovato il pareggio con grande autorità. Nella serata di enorme dignità degli azzurri, Donnarumma è stato gigantesco: parate straordinarie su Doue, Dembélé, Olise, Rabiot e Camavinga. Un fenomeno, ma questo non ridimensiona i meriti dell’Italia: il portiere è uno degli undici giocatori in campo, la retorica di quello che tra i pali ti ha salvato la pelle conta fino a un certo punto. Anche perché gli azzurri non ha pensato solo a difendersi. Ha replicato colpo su colpo e quando a cinque minuti dalla fine Upamecano ha rimediato il secondo cartellino giallo e ha lasciato la Francia in dieci, Mancini ha cercato di vincere il match, inserendo Scamacca. Barella ha sfiorato il colpo del 2-1, ma l’1-1 va benissimo. Ci siamo rimessi in piedi dopo l’esordio horror contro il Belgio e ora, contro la Turchia, lunedì, potremmo puntare il secondo posto. I Diavoli Rossi giocheranno infatti in Francia e la corsa per la qualificazione ai quarti di Nations League è aperta. Kayode, Sebastiano Esposito, l’esordiente Vergara: hanno superato a pieni voti l’esame di un palcoscenico come lo Stade de France e questo significa che si può guardare al futuro con maggior ottimismo. Ci sono giovani di valore: la cosa fondamentale è dare loro fiducia. Kayode ha aggirato il problema trasferendosi in Inghilterra, al Brentford. Si vede. Ha già assimilato lo stile Premier, correndo coast to coast senza sosta. Dopo le prestazioni contro Turchia e Francia, sarà difficile rimandarlo in panchina: merita una maglia da titolare. Vergara è entrato in campo con autorità. Non ha pagato il prezzo dell’emozione. Nel gruppo più maturo, Frattesi – due gol sfiorati – ha confermato lo stato di forma emerso nelle prime esibizioni con la maglia della Lazio: lasciare l’Inter, dove si accomodava quasi sempre in panchina, gli ha fatto bene. Bastoni è andato nuovamente a segno dopo il gol alla Turchia: un giocatore ritrovato. Donnarumma, fischiato dal pubblico parigino, è un fuoriclasse: teniamocelo stretto. Mancini per la prima volta in queste giornate non facili è sembrato più rilassato: “Sapevamo che sarebbe stata durissima, ma siamo stati bravi a concedere poco. Abbiamo giocato da squadra in tutte le fasi. Volevo un altro segnale di miglioramento del nostro percorso ed è arrivato. La Francia è straordinaria, ma noi abbiamo retto il confronto”.
