General Information

Rome is the capital city and most populated comune (municipality) of Italy. It is also the administrative centre of the Lazio region and of the Metropolitan City of Rome. A special comune named Roma Capitale with a population of 2.7 million in an area of 1,287.36 km2 (497.1 mi2), Rome is the third most populous city in the European Union by population within city limits. The Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, with a population of 4.2 million, is the most populous metropolitan city in Italy. Its metropolitan area is the third-most populous within Italy. Rome is located in the central-western portion of the Italian Peninsula, within Lazio (Latium), along the shores of the Tiber Valley. Vatican City is an independent country inside the city boundaries of Rome, the only existing example of a country within a city. Rome is often referred to as the "City of Seven Hills" due to its geography, and also as the "Eternal City". Rome is generally considered to be one of the cradles of Western civilization and Western Christian culture, and the centre of the Catholic Church.

Salvini su caro carburanti: “Studiamo da mesi la situazione” e da colpa all’Europa. Faraone (Iv): “Dormite, fate soltanto chiacchiere”
Praticamente in contemporanea con Giorgia Meloni che sul tema del caro-carburanti ha parlato da Spalato, Matteo Salvini ha risposta sullo stesso tema, sollecitato da una interrogazione parlamentare di Davide Faraone durante il ‘Question Time’ a Montecitorio. “Stiamo seguendo da mesi il tema del caro-carburanti soprattutto sul tema dell’autotrasporto” assicura il vicepresidente del Consiglio e ministro delle Infrastrutture e Trasporti. Salvini ha ricordato “il contributo straordinario sotto forma di credito d’imposta” introdotto dal governo Meloni per fronteggiare l’emergenza dell’aumento del costo del carburante per il settore. “Abbiamo messo a disposizione non chiacchiere ma risorse per 434 milioni di euro” aggiunge Salvini, replicando alle accuse del deputato di Italia Viva. “Parallelamente puntiamo all’erogazione di contributi pari a 590 milioni di euro fino al 2031 per il rinnovo veicolare peri mezzi di trasporto merci. Noi siamo pronti non appena il Ministero dell’Economia e delle Finanze terminerà l’istruttoria sul provvedimento”. “Resta comunque al vaglio la possibilità di prorogare le misure di riduzione delle accise mediante l’utilizzo dell’extragettito Iva stimato per il mese di settembre 2026”. Poi il vicepresidente del Consiglio si avventura in una polemica contro “anni di politiche fallimentari portate avanti da Bruxelles ed invito gli interroganti, l’intero Parlamento e soprattutto chi sostiene la maggioranza della presidente von der Leyen a rivolgersi insieme a noi al vertice della Commissione Europea esortandoli ad andare in contro alle richieste del governo italiano”. La replica di Faraone non poteva che essere quella di far notare a Matteo Salvini che “lei ministro forse dimentica che Fitto, esponente di Fratelli d’Italia siede accanto alla von der Leyen, che il presidente Mulè, che è alle sue spalle, è esponente di un partito che sostiene la von der Leyen per cui quando lei dice che qualcuno si deve rivolgere alla Commissione Europea innanzitutto dovrebbe rivolgersi ai suoi compagni di coalizione. Siete andati al governo dicendo che avreste tagliato le accise”. Nel governo conclude Faraone “la confusione regna sovrana. La mobilitazione degli studenti francesi arriva anche in Italia, istituti occupati in molte città: “Più soldi per la scuola e meno per le armi”
Le prime barricate sono comparse a Torino, poi la protesta è arrivata a Roma e Napoli. L’onda delle mobilitazioni studentesche francesi ha attraversato il confine fino in Italia, seppur con dimensioni e forme diverse: occupazioni e assemblee usano esplicitamente lo slogan “facciamo come in Francia” per rilanciare vertenze già note. La prima città a muoversi è stata il capoluogo piemontese. Lunedì 5 ottobre sono stati occupati il liceo Regina Margherita e l’istituto Carlo Ignazio Giulio, il giorno dopo si è aggiunto il Sella Aalto Lagrange, mentre al Gobetti è partita l’autogestione. Le rivendicazioni includono le condizioni degli edifici – infiltrazioni, impianti malfunzionanti, cantieri – ma spaziano anche nella contestazione del decreto Scuola e del limite agli studenti stranieri, nella richiesta di più risorse per l’istruzione e contro l’aumento della spesa militare. Da martedì, poi, la mobilitazione è arrivata nella Capitale. Occupato il Cavour, dopo l’avvio di provvedimenti disciplinari per un’azione contro Israele e a catena l’istituto tecnico Lattanzio e il liceo Tullio Levi Civita: qui gli studenti denunciano anche problemi strutturali, compresa l’inagibilità di una parte dell’edificio. Picchetti e assemblee negli altri istituti, dall’Avogadro al Newton, mentre gli studenti del liceo francese Chateaubriand hanno manifestato senza entrare in classe. A Napoli, invece, è stato occupato il liceo Tito Lucrezio Caro di Posillipo: oltre ai fondi per scuole e infrastrutture e al tetto agli alunni stranieri, la protesta ha come bersaglio il progetto del Cpr di Castel Volturno. A Bologna, un centinaio di studenti universitari e liceali ha sfilato nel quartiere universitario.
