General Information

Rome is the capital city and most populated comune (municipality) of Italy. It is also the administrative centre of the Lazio region and of the Metropolitan City of Rome. A special comune named Roma Capitale with a population of 2.7 million in an area of 1,287.36 km2 (497.1 mi2), Rome is the third most populous city in the European Union by population within city limits. The Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, with a population of 4.2 million, is the most populous metropolitan city in Italy. Its metropolitan area is the third-most populous within Italy. Rome is located in the central-western portion of the Italian Peninsula, within Lazio (Latium), along the shores of the Tiber Valley. Vatican City is an independent country inside the city boundaries of Rome, the only existing example of a country within a city. Rome is often referred to as the "City of Seven Hills" due to its geography, and also as the "Eternal City". Rome is generally considered to be one of the cradles of Western civilization and Western Christian culture, and the centre of the Catholic Church.

Salute mentale, da Benji a Mencarelli: a Verona una settimana di eventi contro lo stigma: “Importante sentir parlare chi ha vissuto il disagio”
Un’intera settimana, dal 5 all’11 ottobre, dedicata alla sensibilizzazione sulla salute mentale attraverso la cultura, l’arte, lo sport e le testimonianze personali. Lo stigma che ruota attorno ai problemi psichici spesso ostacola le persone che convivono con il disagio: per abbattere queste barriere, a Verona, il dipartimento di Salute Mentale dell’ULSS 9 Scaligera e il reparto di Psichiatria dell’AOUI hanno organizzato una serie di appuntamenti per coinvolgere i cittadini attraverso momenti di incontro, dialogo e condivisione. L’iniziativa, organizzata in occasione della Giornata mondiale della salute mentale del 10 ottobre, ha l’obiettivo di andare oltre l’aspetto sanitario del problema perché, come ribadito dall’OMS, il benessere mentale è influenzato anche da fattori sociali, economici, educativi e ambientali. Il calendario (qui il programma) è ricco di eventi alla portata di tutti, a partire dal cinema, con la proiezione del film La riunione di condominio di Santiago Requejo, fino allo sport, con il torneo di calcio a 5 Mentalmente in campo, passando per lo spettacolo teatrale Sentimentalmente cronici e per la gita sul Lago di Garda. Venerdì 9 ottobre, nell’Auditorium della Gran Guardia, porteranno sul palco la propria testimonianza il cantante Benjamin (del duo Benji e Fede), lo scrittore Daniele Mencarelli e la filosofa Antonella Moscati. Secondo la psichiatra Francesca Gomez, responsabile dell’area riabilitativa del dipartimento di salute mentale Ulss 9 Scaligera, “poter sentire la testimonianza di personaggi noti, che hanno vissuto il disagio e lo hanno trasformato in un progetto di vita, conta molto di più delle parole che possiamo dire noi esperti rispetto a questo problema”. Oltre un miliardo di persone al mondo convive con un disagio psichico: “Quando i pazienti, in situazioni gravi, arrivano da noi in psichiatria emerge spesso come i primi sintomi siano comparsi già verso la prima media“, ha affermato la dottoressa Gomez. In trent’anni di esperienza, la psichiatra ha visto più volte il ripetersi della stessa situazione: “Vanno male a scuola, non hanno relazioni, sono aggressivi o iperattivi, ma spesso il comportamento viene associato all’età e non alla presenza di un malessere psichico”. La sensibilizzazione parte dalle scuole, ma deve estendersi anche alle altre fasce della popolazione: serve a evitare che si verifichino queste situazioni e a riconoscere il problema dandogli il giusto nome. Per l’OMS, le persone che appartengono alle categorie più fragili sono le stesse che rischiano di sviluppare problematiche della salute mentale. Accedere alle cure, ma anche ricevere una diagnosi, ha un costo che spesso le famiglie non possono sostenere. “Dovremmo cercare di essere sempre di più una rete, anche con le associazioni e i Comuni che possono creare momenti e luoghi per la socializzazione. L’inclusione di tutti, anche a livello economico, è fondamentale soprattutto nelle zone in cui il disagio sociale è maggiore e mancano le opportunità”, ha affermato Gomez. Curare le malattie mentali con lo sport, la musica e l’arte ha molti effetti positivi per la socialità e l’integrazione, ma spesso richiede un investimento economico che non tutti possono permettersi. I giovani che convivono con un problema di salute mentale sono più di 700mila, e per questo “la scuola non dovrebbe solo dare conoscenze, ma anche partecipare alla crescita dei ragazzi. Andare in un centro di salute mentale è ancora difficile per molti e per questo penso che creare degli ambulatori specifici possa essere una delle soluzioni possibili”. La dottoressa Gomez ha segnalato come l’ambulatorio per la cura del disturbo da deficit dell’attenzione/iperattività (Adhd) abbia avuto un numero altissimo di richieste. “L’Adhd è un disturbo che, soprattutto in età giovanile, può essere scambiato per qualcos’altro ed è stata dimostrata anche una forte correlazione con lo sviluppo di dipendenze. Creare un ambulatorio specifico, infatti, può aiutare le persone ad avvicinarsi”. I problemi di salute mentale non sono comuni solo tra i giovani, ma riguardano anche adulti e anziani. In una società che spesso è portata all’efficienza e alla performatività, sviluppare patologie ansioso-depressive è sempre più comune, soprattutto sul lavoro. Anche lo sport, spesso individuato come “cura” per la socialità dei più giovani, “diventa un’arma a doppio taglio quando coinvolge gli adulti, che spostano l’attenzione sull’aspetto prestazionale e competitivo“, ha chiuso Gomez. Le malattie mentali sono molto diverse tra loro, anche per il tipo di trattamento che richiedono. Il programma proposto per la settimana dedicata alla salute mentale ha coinvolto anche le aziende grandi e piccole della zona, che hanno voluto dare il proprio contribuito per organizzare gli incontri, che promuovono l’inclusione sociale, la partecipazione e la costruzione di relazioni come forme di contrasto al disagio psichico. Campania, in consiglio regionale il primo sì al ‘reddito minimo’ per i poveri. “Valuteremo l’individuazione di una misura di sostegno”
Non è la promessa di un reddito di cittadinanza in senso stretto, ma ci assomiglia, l’impegno approvato poche ore fa in consiglio regionale per gli indigenti della Campania. È uno dei passaggi chiave della risoluzione di maggioranza al Documento di Economia e Finanza 2027-29. E’ stata approvata con 30 voti a favore, 16 contrari – e prevede, al capitolo in materia di welfare e inclusione sociale, di valutare “eventuali interventi finalizzati all’individuazione di un’efficace misura regionale di sostegno al reddito”. Da qui alla manovra finanziaria della regione guidata dal M5s Roberto Fico, passerà altra acqua sotto i ponti. E’ prassi approvare il bilancio di previsione nel corso delle settimane natalizie. Ma su quelle righe della risoluzione preparata dai gruppi di maggioranza della commissione Bilancio, presieduta da Corrado Matera (Pd) e su input di Elena Vignati (M5s), una dichiarazione di intenti che dovrà passare il vaglio di successivi “approfondimenti”, va subito all’attacco il centro destra. Il leader dell’opposizione Gennaro Sangiuliano (Fdi) parla di “suggestione cubana” e “decrescita infelice” e sostiene che “il reddito di cittadinanza regionale, che il presidente Fico, per pudore, ribattezza “reddito minimo”, scassa i conti della regione, toglie risorse ai servizi reali, a partire dalla sanità, alla cultura, alla scuola, alle imprese e alle infrastrutture”. Di qui una controrisoluzione per proporre un “reddito di Dignità – Incentivo ai pensionati della Campania” e un “reddito di Merito – Incentivo all’eccellenza per studenti meritevoli”. E’ stata bocciata con 33 voti contrari e 16 favorevoli. Tra gli impegni approvati nel corso dei lavori dell’aula presieduta da Massimiliano Manfredi (Pd) c’è anche quello di “proseguire, in continuità con gli indirizzi già espressi dal Consiglio e con le posizioni assunte dalla Regione, nel contrasto al processo di attuazione dell’autonomia differenziata, a tutela dell’unità della Repubblica, dell’eguaglianza nell’esercizio dei diritti fondamentali, della solidarietà e della coesione territoriale, assumendo ogni iniziativa utile, anche in sede giurisdizionale ove ne ricorrano i presupposti”.
